The Detroit Red Wings signed Viktor Arvidsson to a free-agent contract, expecting him to play in the top six.

Wilmer Skoog, another Swedish forward, was also signed by the Red Wings.
Skoog scored 22 goals as an AHL rookie with the Charlotte Checkers in 2023-24.
He will start the season in Grand Rapids in the AHL, and if he plays well, he will get a chance with the Red Wings.
Lidstrom has familiarity with Skoog's work, having seen him play in Västerås juniors.
The Red Wings are looking to improve their standing with the addition of Arvidsson and Skoog.
Arvidsson's experience and leadership will be key to the team's success.
